CLINTON — The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. is collecting school supplies for area school children who need help with the basics to start school.

Collection boxes are located at Wal-Mart and several local churches, including St. John’s Catholic Church.

“As August approaches, the Write Stuff for Kids Inc. will be gathering supplies for an anticipated 500 students from pre-school to high school,” said Kathleen Frick, treasurer for the organization.

The distribution date for supplies is Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. John’s Church basement.

The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. also accepts cash donations that are used to purchase supplies.

“We appreciate the wonderful support we have always had from our community. No donation is too small to help out,” said Frick.

Donations may be sent to the Write Stuff for Kids Inc. at 203 S. Elizabeth St., Clinton.

Families who need to sign up for school supply assistance may register at Community Action, the DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department, the DeWitt County Housing or the Public Aid office.
