CLINTON—A Clinton man in Judge Garry Bryan’s DeWitt County courtroom Monday agreed to a negotiated plea on a felony charge of sexual abuse and two misdemeanor charges of violating a court order of protection.
Charles D. “Chuckie” Lawson, Junior, 31, 819 E. Webster St., was accused by a victim whose age is between 13 and 16 years.
In the plea agreement, between the three charges, Lawson will spend 158 more days in jail, having been given credit for time served and day-for-day good time credit. Lawson will serve four years of probation and is to have no contact with the victim during that time. He also was assessed a $796.50 for jail meals.
Lawson was represented by Public Defender Richard Goff.
Also, three misdemeanor charges, two of violating an order of protection and one of telephone harassment, were dismissed.
Aggravated sexual abuse is a Class 2 Felony, and he faced 3 to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
