Committee amends number of ambulances proposed

Posted: Friday, Jun 29th, 2012

CLINTON — On Thursday, the county’s ambulance advisory committee amended its recommendation for the number of ambulances that should serve the county. The committee is charged with presenting the county board with a plan for ambulance service when the hospital ends its service at the end of 2012.

At its June 20 meeting, the committee approved setting the number of ambulances it believed should serve the county under a future plan at two on duty 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week with an additional ambulance on call.

At its Thursday meeting, members reconsidered that decision at eliminated the one on-call ambulance.

Terry Ferguson researched with the Illinois Department of Labor how, potentially, on-call personnel would be paid. Ferguson serves as a non-voting member of the committee and county board liaison.
