Inpatient services driving hospital’s summer business

Posted: Friday, Jul 27th, 2012

CLINTON — Inpatient revenue continued to be the hospital’s strong suit in June, helping create the best period for the facility since August / September 2010.

The hospital took in more than double the inpatient service revenue from the previous June. Inpatient revenue was up by 28 percent over June 2010.

The information was part of Donna Wisner’s monthly financial report to the Dr. John Warner Hospital board.

Year-to-date, inpatient services accounted for 84 percent of the hospital’s revenue, while outpatient services made up 16 percent. Revenue is running about 3.5 percent below budget for the fiscal year but about 5 percent over the previous year.

Outpatient revenue for June was below budget projections by 5.5 percent.

An increase in lap band procedures had a positive effect on hospital revenues, but surgical procedures were down over the previous year, causing related departments, such as anesthesia, radiology and pharmacy to see decreased revenue.
