Hospital addresses failing boiler system in Rural Health Center

Posted: Wednesday, Nov 28th, 2012

CLINTON — Members of the Dr. John Warner Hospital board acted Monday to restore reliable heating to the Rural Health Center. The center’s boiler reportedly failed several mornings this month.

“One day, we didn’t open the clinic because we just couldn’t get it warmed up,” said hospital CEO Earl Sheehy. On other days, employees used enough space heaters to get the facility “temperate,” Sheehy said.

Currently, the boiler was working because of a temporary fix.

“Right now, it’s running by a thread,” Sheehy said.

The hospital received several proposals for replacing the system. Sheehy said he had Architectural Expressions examine the proposals.

One of the proposals involved replacing the control panel but not the boiler, but Sheehy said the plan was only about $4,000 less than replacing the entire system.
