Funeral of fire victim Saturday

CLINTON — The funeral for Douglas Fleming, 87, will be held on Saturday. See Mr. Fleming’s obituary below on the Clinton Journal Web site.

Fleming died in a house fire at his home in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Fire departments from Clinton and Wapella responded to the blaze that destroyed the kitchen of the home and caused smoke and heat damage to the rest of the structure. Firefighters removed Fleming from the home through a bedroom window.

Coroner Randy Rice said an autopsy was scheduled for this week.

Fleming’s son sustained light burns in the fire.
