Couple reunited after 61 years

CLINTON — Bob Easton dated Betty Parker when the two were in high school during the early 1950s, in Greenup, Ill., located near Mattoon. They were introduced to one another by Betty’s cousin. Easton and Parker eventually married, 61 years later.

Bob, 79, and Betty 78, were married in December at Brookstone Estates, in Mattoon. They went their separate ways all those years ago, and both were married to other people.

After high school, Bob joined the Air Force.

“I went in a clerk and came out a truck driver,” Bob said. “That’s how the military is. That’s how I became a truck driver.
