***** Local cooling centers activated for forecast heat and humidity *****

CLINTON The weather this week will bring temperatures into the 90s and high humidity, creating heat index numbers between 100 and 105 degrees, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Cooling centers at the Friendship Center and the Warner Library have been activated for this week.

Friendship Center

8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday - Friday

Warner Library

9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday Thursday

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

The heat and humidity will also create conditions favorable for thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and lightning hazards. The best chance for storms will be Wednesday through Sunday.

DeWitt County Emergency Management Agency director Teresa Barnett urges residents to be cautious of extreme weather conditions.
