CLINTON — Clinton athletic director Karl Parrish said there is a “strong possibility” that up to seven schools will choose to leave the Okaw Valley Conference after the 2013-14 school year.
Therefore, the five other conference schools (Clinton, Maroa-Forsyth, St. Teresa, Monticello and Tolono Unity) held a special anticipatory meeting on Monday to discuss their options.
“It was more of a proactive meeting than anything,” Parrish said. “[We’re] looking to put together a plan of action as to where we go from here, what the options are of all the schools involved.”
Among the scenarios discussed in the meeting was to add some new schools to the OVC to replace the departing ones.
“As we lose some schools soon, we hope that we can add new schools that will be a good fit for what we do,” Parrish said.
A tentative meeting will be held in July for schools willing to talk to the OVC about the possibility of joining. Among the teams expected to be in the tentative meeting are St. Joseph-Ogden and Champaign St. Thomas More.
