SHELBYVILLE — The CHS girls’ track team has had a busy week, and despite low temperatures and high winds, the athletes still clocked stellar performances.
Last Friday, the girls were at the Shelbyville Invitational, a large meet in which placed 5th overall. Contributing largely to team points were the relay teams in both the sprints and distances.
Clinton’s 4x100m relay team of Erin West, Jade Thomas, Morgan Witzke and Becca Anderson ran a quick 51.2 second race and created a new meet record for first place. West, Witzke, Anderson and Kaitlin Hayden ran together for the 4x200m relay that also placed first with a time of 1:47.6, with Anderson passing conference rival Sullivan to take the lead during the anchor leg.
The 4x400m relay of Witzke, Thomas, Hayden and Raeann Huffman came in 4th place at 4:24.38. On the distance side, the 4x800m relay of Huffman, Alivia Powers, Ilire Imeri and Kaitlyn Siltman ran in a very competitive 1A race, placing 6th overall with a time of 11:03.3.
