CLINTON — Juanita Lorraine Crowell, 96, of Clinton, passed away at 12:41 a.m. on November 25, 2012 at Manor Court, Clinton, Ill.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Calvert’s, J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Little Galilee Christian Assembly or Angel Tree.
Juanita was born on September 23 1916 in Collison, Ill., daughter of Chester J. Gossett and Jessie (Chitwood) Gossett. She married Ernest C. Crowell on August 4, 1940 in Champaign, Ill. He passed away on September 4, 1983.
Survivors include daughters Charlene (James) Dolly, Decatur, Ill.; Diana Golden, Clinton, and Wanda (Peter) Tracy, Champaign, Ill.; four grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton. She was a retired schoolteacher, teaching at Kenney High School and then teaching home economics at Clinton Junior High School. She was a member of the DeWitt-Logan Retired Teachers Association and Home Extension, holding several leadership positions in both organizations. She was an alumna of the University of Illinois. Juanita loved to sew and work crossword puzzles.
