WAPELLA — Evelyn May Welch, 91, of Wapella, Ill., passed away at 12:19 a.m. on November 24, 2012 at Manor Court, Clinton, Ill. surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, at Calvert’s, Rev. Steven Evans officiating. Interment will be at Willmore Cemetery, Clinton.
Memorials may be made to Clinton Christian Academy.
Evelyn was born on May 20, 1921 in Harp Township, Ill., daughter of James F. Webb and Katherine (Hunter) Webb. She married Montie Lesley Welch, Sr. on February 17, 1935 in Bloomington, Ill. He passed away on January 4, 1980.
Survivors include two sons Montie L. (Letty) Welch, Plantation, Fla., and Richard A. (Elfriede) Welch, Buch, Germany; five daughters Delores J. (Bill) Severino, Springfield, Ill.; Linda M. (Craig) Kurth, Bloomington, Ill.; Sheryl A. (Ray) Maier, Wapella, Ill.; Nancy S. (Dave) Raaf, Coralville, Iowa, and Lana M. (Larry) Thayer, Clinton, Ill.; brother James H. (Doris) Webb, Springfield, Ill.; sister Doris J. Edwards, Manfield, Ill., 23 grandchildren and 38 great- grandchildren.
Her parents, two sons Russell D. Welch and Randall L. Welch and one daughter Wilma D. Sharp preceded her in death.
She attended the Wapella Christian Church. She was an avid quilter and cook. She loved to work crossword puzzles, play Kismet and enjoyed country music. She was the best grandma ever.
