KENNEY — Glenn A. Davis, 96, Kenney, Ill, passed away at 6 p.m. on December 2, 2012 at his family home surrounded by his family.
Friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Calvert’s, Fr. Matt Werkman officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Kenney.
Memorials may be made to the Kenney Heritage Association or DMH Hospice.
Glenn was born on January 3, 1916 in Independence, Iowa, son of Bert Edward Davis and Iva May (Crooks) Davis. He married Joan Sandy on April 15, 1944 in Dorchester, England. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. She passed away on October 19, 1995.
Survivors include children Sandy (Stephen) Moore, Houston, Texas; Judy (Bill) Voelker, Kenney, Ill.; Mary Jo (Troy) Vanover, Kenney, Ill.; Linda (Orville) Cutright, Kenney, Ill., and Janice (Ron) Sams, Kenney, Ill., 13 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren.
His parents, son Roger, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Glenn was a U.S. Army, 1st Infantry veteran of WWII, serving in the European front from 1942-1945. He survived D-Day on Omaha Beach. He attended McPhale School of Music and the Minneapolis Art Institute. He had a lifelong career as a professional musician, playing the piano. He had a great sense of humor and always a twinkle in his eye and enjoyed music, art, cooking and playing cards. He was a member of the Kenney VFW and the American Legion.
