DUNEDIN, Fla. — Leora Lucretia Sharp Yates, 101, died Friday, December 21, 2012, in Dunedin, Fla.
Leora was born November 27, 1911, in Taylorville, Ill., to Jennie Vaught Sharp and Charles Henry Sharp. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1929. She married Cecil B. Yates on March 30, 1935. He preceded her in death in February, 1985. Leora lived many years in Clinton, Ill., before moving permanently to Dunedin, Fla., in 1986.
During her life in Clinton, she was employed by Sharp’s Five Cents to a Dollar Store, the DeWitt county treasurer’s office and Lundh’s Jewelry Store. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and playing roque at the Roque Club, in Clinton. Throughout her life she enjoyed arts and crafts and playing cards.
Leora was preceded in death by one brother, Lyle F. Sharp. She is survived by one niece, Betty Meyer (Bob), of Clearwater, Fla., two nephews, Lyle D. Sharp (Katheen) of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Larry Schoch (Shirley) of Clinton, Ill., plus several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside family service will be held at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. is handling arrangements.
