CLINTON — Dale Weikel, 84, of Clinton, passed away at 10:28 p.m. on January 17, 2013, at Manor Court, Clinton.
A visitation was held on January 20 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services were held on January 21 at First Christian Church, Clinton, J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Interment was at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton.
Memorials may be made to the Dale Weikel memorial fund.
Dale was born on July 2, 1928 in Clinton, son of Mearl Weikel and Velma Weikel. He married Mary Lou Dunham on November 22, 1953 in Maroa, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters Cathy (Joe) Daniels, Clinton, and Patti Darling, Bloomington, Ill.; son-in-law Jeff Hendricker, Clinton; brother James (Shirley) Weikel, Clinton, and sister Donna (Fred) Enos, Clinton, five grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
His parents, one daughter Judy Hendricker and four sisters preceded him in death.
Dale was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He worked for the City of Clinton for 45 years as water superintendent. He enjoyed antiquing, auctions and was a die-hard Cubs fan. He loved being with his family and grandchildren. The family offers a special thanks to the staff of Manor Court for all of their care.
