CLINTON — Ruth Walker Peverly, 90, of Clinton, passed away at 4:28 p.m. on April 18, 2013 at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.
A celebration of life service will be held at Clinton Presbyterian Church at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Associated Country Women of the World or Clinton Presbyterian Church.
Ruth was born on November 21, 1922 in Clinton, daughter of Carle Walker and Ruth (Kent) Walker. She married Robert Corman Peverly on April 8, 1944 in San Diego, Calif. He passed away on May 4, 2010.
Survivors include a son Kent (Susan) Peverly, Everett, Wash.; three daughters Janice (David) Peverly-Field, Las Cruces, N.M.; Alice Grooms, Clinton, and Virginia (Keith) Erickson, Urbana, Ill.; a sister Caroline Manock, Clinton; six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
Her parents, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.
Ruth was a lifetime member of Clinton Presbyterian Church. She was active in Homemakers Extension, was a member of Associated Country Women of the World and attended conferences all over the world. She was a Welcome Wagon hostess in the 1970s, was a member of Illinois Association of Wheat Weavers and enjoyed quilting. Most of all, Ruth loved spending time with her family.
