CLINTON — Shirley Jean Schriber, 71, of Clinton, Ill., passed from this earth while at home surrounded by her family at 9:15 a.m. on May 28, 2013.
A private, family visitation will be held. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, today, at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, Ill., Brother Richard Owens officiating.
Memorials may be made to Second Chance for Pets pet adoption.
Shirley was born in a little house on E. Woodlawn Street, in Clinton, on November 24, 1941, daughter of John W. Day and Leona F. Mearida. She married Michael D. Schriber on August 24, 1959 in Monticello, Ill. He survives.
Survivors also include her mother Leona Fern Day, Clinton; children Carolyn (Roy) Trout, Clinton; Mike Schriber, Jr., Clinton, and Ashley Spriggs, Clinton; two great- grandchildren Abbygail and Vance, and brother Donald Day, Clinton.
Her youngest child Christy, father John and sister Carolyn Woodward preceded her in death.
Shirley spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her husband, children and whatever dog they happened to have at the time. She enjoyed painting, collecting and yard sales.
