WAPELLA — Kenneth R. Pettyjohn, 81, of Wapella, Ill. passed away at 3:18 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Manor Court in Clinton, Ill. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2013 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. with Rev. Richard Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Lisenby Cemetery, Lane, Ill. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. Memorials may be directed to The Full Gospel Tabernacle, Heyworth, Ill.
Mr. Pettyjohn was born on February 23, 1932 in Bement, IL, the son of Oscar and Cecil (Dearman) Pettyjohn. He married Betty Hogancamp on February 1, 1992 in Clinton, Ill. She survives.
Surviving are his wife, Betty of Wapella; children: Joyce (Pat Cox) Kestner, Clinton, Ill.; Jan (Steve) Tate, Mansfield, Ill.; Mark Pettyjohn, Rupert, ID; Cyndie (Kevin) Laver, Clinton, Ill.; Kim (Scott) Nimmo, Clinton, Ill.; Christi (John) Irvin, Clinton, Ill.; Elsie (Skit) Anderson, Champaign, Ill.; Terry (Vicki) Pettyjohn, Monticello, Ill.; two step-children: Thomas (Shelly) Walls, Vaiden, Miss.; Roxanne (Lynn) Thayer, Clinton, Ill.; eleven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother: Stanley (Janet) Pettyjohn, Niantic, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, one son and one granddaughter.
He attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Heyworth, Ill. Kenneth was a carpenter and painter. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and he especially loved his family.
