CLINTON — Elsie Berdena Fulton, 91, of Clinton, Ill., passed away at 3 a.m. on September 30, 2013 at her family residence.
There will not be a visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, Ill., Pastor Amanda Richards officiating.
Memorials may be made to the United Church of Heyworth or Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.
Elsie was born on October 28, 1921 in rural Heyworth, daughter of James Fulton and Janette (Graves) Fulton.
Surviving is a great-niece Dr. Sarah Veatch, Ithaca, N.Y.; great-nephew Dr. Joshua Veatch, Seattle, Wash., and special friends Dale and Imogene Lance, Argenta, Ill., and Janet Meadors, Clinton, Ill.
Her parents, a brother Howard, two sisters Iris Fulton and Louise (Fulton) Veatch and four nephews Robert, William, Edward and James Veatch preceded her in death.
She attended Heyworth schools and earned degrees from Illinois State University and Bradley University. She was a teacher of Latin and English at East Peoria Community High School for 35 years. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Sigma Tau Delta, Kappa Delta Epsilon and the American Classical League. She was a member of the DeWitt County Home Extension. In recent years, she was a volunteer tutor for Project Read and the adult literacy program.
