Kenneth A. “Hoppy” Hopkins

SPRINGFIELD — Kenneth A. “Hoppy” Hopkins, 74, of Springfield, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013.
Hoppy was born June 10, 1939, in Vandalia, the son of C. Vaughn and Blenna Luella Noffsinger Hopkins. He married Savannah Sue Beck in 1959. They later divorced in 1987 and she survives. He married Ann L. McMinn on February 25, 1989, in Springfield.
Hoppy was a 1957 graduate of Deland-Weldon High School. Kenneth began working at the age of 11 as a farm hand. He was employed for 24 years at Revere Copper and Brass in Clinton and also worked five years as a DeWitt County corrections officer. He then started Hopkins Lawn Care in the Clinton area for four years and started the business again in Springfield in 1990, retiring in 2000. Hoppy enjoyed model building, model railroading, his lawn and gardening and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Melody Jill Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife Ann Louise McMinn Hopkins, of Springfield; his son, Barry “Scott” Hopkins, of Clinton; one daughter, Becky Sue Jackson, of Clinton; one step-daughter, Stacy Ann McMinn, of Springfield; one grandson, Daeven Jackson of Urbana; and three siblings, Carol (Richard) Brown of Downs, Virginia Hopkins, of Springfield, Va., and Jeanne Ann (Mike) Fahrenbacher, of Elk Grove Village, Ill.
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
