CLINTON — Clarice M. May, 91 of Peoria, Ill. formerly of Clinton, Ill., passed away 1:05 a.m. March 2, 2014 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Ill..

Her funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill.. with Rev. Karen Merrick officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, Ill.

Friends may call from 1 – 2 p.m. on Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. A memorial service will also be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the First Christian Church, 6400 N. University Street., Peoria, Ill. 61614-2799. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Peoria, Ill..

Clarice was born October 4, 1922 in Clinton, Ill. the daughter of Clarence H. and Isora Annie (Hester) May.

Survivors include her niece Susan (John E.) Sprinkle, Chillicothe, Ill., great nieces: Terri McCosh, Chillicothe, Ill. and Carrie (Jason) Hill, Peoria, Ill. and great nephew: John R. Sprinkle, Peoria, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Tollefson, one niece, one great nephew and one great niece.

Clarice was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Clinton, Ill. and a faithful and active member at the First Christian Church, Peoria, Ill. At her church she enjoyed the Disciples Women’s Group and her Sunday School classes.

Her years at Caterpillar Tractor Company started with her employment at Caterpillar Defense Products in Decatur, Ill. She retired 45 years later in 1985 as Administration Assistant to the President of Caterpillar Tractor Company.

She enjoyed the luncheons with the Caterpillar Retiree Secretary Group and had been competitive in Caterpillar Golf League in her earlier years. Also she enjoyed her trips to Florida, Hawaii, Europe and Australia as well as many other locations.

The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Cathy Lamb and the Palliative Care Team at OSF for their work while she was in the hospital.
