CLINTON — Ruth Gholson, 79, of Clinton, Ill., passed away at 2:38 p.m. on March 17, 2014 at Manor Court, Clinton.
A visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at the Clinton Presbyterian Church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Clinton Presbyterian Church, Rev. Benjamin Keller officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton.
Memorials may be made to the Clinton Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
Ruth was born on February 6, 1935 in McLeansboro, Ill., daughter of Hillary Weldin and Edna Varney. She married Dick Gholson on July 22, 1956 in McLeansboro. He passed away in 1972.
Survivor include children Debbie (Pete) Maxwell, Pulaski, Va.; Steve Gholson and Brad Gholson, both of Yorkville, Ill., and Jeff (Tami) Gholson, Petaluma, Calif.; grandchildren Jennifer (Kyle) Killion, Beth Maxwell, Meredith (Dustin) Blankenship, Colin (Holli) Gholson, Kirby Gholson, Garrett Gholson, Kelly Gholson, Chad Gholson, Emily Gholson and Patrick Gholson, and great-grandchildren Ariana Maxwell, Kiara Bailey, Jayda Blankenship, Carter Blankenship, Isabelle Killion, Madelyn Killion, Melonie Killion and Eliana Gholson.
Ruth was a retired WIC nurse with the DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department.
