DEWITT, Ill. — Dorothy A. Hickman, 93, of DeWitt, Ill., passed away at 7:34 a.m. on June 7, 2014 surrounded by her family at her family residence.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Calvert’s, Curtis Glawe officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Dorothy was born on February 27, 1921 in Lane, Ill., daughter of Guy O. Longenbaugh and Leta M. (Reeter) Longenbaugh. She married Lloyd Hickman on January 30, 1946 in Birkbeck, Ill. He passed away on September 18, 1996.
Survivors include son David L. Hickman, Wapella, Ill.; daughter Lisa Shinneman Cross, Ft. Worth, Texas; brothers Loyd Longenbaugh, Champaign, Ill., and Gene (Jimmy) Longenbaugh, Ft. Worth, Texas, and two grandchildren.
Her parents, one grandson Matthew Shinneman, brothers Carl and Paul and sisters Wilma and Nancy preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church.
Dorothy played the piano at the Birkbeck Church and taught Sunday school. She also sang in the choir at Clinton United Methodist Church.
Dorothy enjoyed cross-stitching. To family and friends she was known as “Mom Hickman.”
