CLINTON — David Lee Ballenger, 61, of Clinton, Ill., passed away at 3:19 p.m. on June 7, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at Calvert’s, J. Kent Hickerson and Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton.
Memorials may be sent to the grandchildren’s education fund.
David was born on May 21, 1953 in Clinton, son of Creed Lee Ballenger and Suzanne Kay (Perry Ballenger). He married Cheryl Sears on October 25, 1975 in Clinton. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother Suzanne Ballenger, Clinton; children Brian (Ashley) Ballenger, Texas, and Michael (Rachael) Ballenger, Clinton, Ill.; grandchildren Breanna, Abbigale, Bryce and Makenna; brothers Danny (Patty) Ballenger, Clinton, Ill., and Dennis (Becky) Ballenger, Heyworth, Ill.; sister Paula (Earl) Jiles, Clinton, Ill., and sister-in-law Dianna Ballenger, Clinton, Ill.
His father and one brother Walter Dale Ballenger, Sr. preceded him in death.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Clinton.
David was a member of ESDA and USSSA. He enjoyed sports, including baseball, slow pitch softball, wrestling, football and bowling. He also loved music, old muscle cars and gathering friends.
David lived for time spent with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, deer rides and trips to Texas.
