OTTAWA - G. William “Bill” Lockhart, 82, of Ottawa died Wednesday, July 21, in Ottawa surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be Sunday, July 25, at 3:30 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with the Rev. Ray Guthrie, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Bill was born on November 24, 1927 in Shreveport, LA to Guy WM and Marie (Long) Lockhart. He married Lora Bernardini on May 12, 1950 in Joliet, Ill.. He was a business agent for the Sheetmetal workers local #1 and was Ottawa Building Trades council president. He was a Glass Worker Credit Union board member and was on the Ottawa planning commission. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a member of National Wild Turkey Federation and founding chairman of Starved Rock chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He served with the Illinois National Guard infantry medical company. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed shooting sports and nature. He was a master class rifleman. Shared his love of the outdoors with many, but his favorite companions were his two sons.
He is survived by his wife Lora Lockhart, of Ottawa; two sons Guy William (Barb) Lockhart, of South Elgin, Ill. and James (Mary) Lockhart, of Ottawa; four daughters Catherine (Darrell) Seigler, of Ottawa, Barbara (Steve) Haage, of Ottawa, Lorrie Ann (Brian) Serby, of Ottawa and Billie Jean (Steve) Marsh, Bettendorf, IA; 12 grandchildren Guy William “Bill” (Deanna) Lockhart, of San Antonio, Tex., Jennifer (Joel Donahue) Lockhart , of Lincoln, NE, Rob (Keri) Piercy, of St. Charles, IL, Kiley (Yasemin) Piercy of Chicago, Ill., Justin Seigler, of Champaign, Ill., Ian (Laci) McConnaughay , of Ottawa, Erin McConnaughay, of Ottawa, Austin Serby, of Ottawa, Stephan Marsh, of Omaha, Neb., Andrew Marsh, of Ames, Iowa., Cassie Lockhart, of Grand Ridge and Colton Lockhart, of Grand Ridge; four great grandchildren, Guy William “Will” Lockhart, Matthew Lockhart, Faith Piercy, and Ethan Piercy; two cousins Janis (Doug) Long Newlyn, of Atwater, Calif. and Janet Lockhart Schneideker, of San Juan Capistrano, Calif..
He was preceded in death by his parents.
