CLINTON — Forest “Butch” Pope, 71, of Clinton, passed away at 10:43 a.m. on September 24, 2012 at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton, Ill.
A visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held today, Friday, at 10 a.m. at Calvert’s, J. Kent Hickerson officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Maroa Youth League or the First Christian Church, Clinton.
Forest was born on September 26, 1940 in Decatur, Ill., son of Thorne Oliver Pope and Mary Elizabeth (Wendling) Pope. He married Erma Cowgill. She passed away in 1988. He later married Marilyn “Jean” (Thoms) Roth on June 8, 1991. She survives.
Also surviving are children Michael (Paula) Pope, Warrenburg, Ill., and Richard (Cathy) Roth, Clinton, and five grandchildren Ainsley and Nolan Roth and Kyle, Kylie and Coby Pope.
His parents and one son Bill preceded him in death.
Forest was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton. He worked for Firestone. He was very involved with the Maroa Youth League.
