CLINTON — Rep. Bill Mitchell was in Clinton on Friday talking about legislation he is sponsoring that would create the Alzheimer’s Awareness Fund as a special fund in the State Treasury. House Bill 6174 would create special Alzheimer’s Awareness license plates that would deposit $10 of the original fee and $23 of the renewal fee into the Alzheimer’s Awareness Fund. Mitchell spoke to seniors at the DeWitt County Friendship Center.
“We have to make a concerted effort to help support Illinois citizens with Alzheimer’s,” Mitchell said. “5.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and the number continues to grow. This fund would issue grants to support Alzheimer’s care, support, education, and awareness programs.”
