Davis and Rose meet with county Republicans, business owners

CLINTON — As the final fury of negative political ads by both sides spreads across area television, Illinois candidates are out talking to voters and meeting local party members. U.S. House candidate Rodney Davis was in Clinton this week meeting with county Republicans, with state senate candidate Chapin Rose tagging along.

Davis will face Democrat David Gill and Independent John Hartman in the November 6 election. The three are running to fill the seat of Rep. Tim Johnson, who announced earlier this year he would not seek reelection.

“It was a joy meeting with county Republicans and Farm Bureau in a meet and greet,” Davis said. Davis received the endorsement of the Illinois Farm Bureau recently.

The subject of taxes is something about which Davis gets a lot of questions.

BLOOMINGTON — “I spent the 12 best years of my life (in DeWitt County),” recalled Dr. David Gill, democratic candidate in the 13th Congressional District race. “I loved it. I have such very fine memories. I bear nothing but goodwill for those living there and look forward to standing up for them when I get to Washington.”

Gill is against allowing the PCBs in the Clinton landfill. “I intend to work passionately once I get to Washington to do anything and everything I can to prevent putting the Mahomet Aquifer at risk and to put at risk access to clean water for generations to come. I can’t think of anything more grossly irresponsible.”
