CLINTON — Wilma M. Powers, 92, Clinton, Ill., passed away at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Manor Court, Clinton, Ill. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wapella, Ill. with Fr. Peter Pilon. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, Ill. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill with a Rosary being prayed at 4 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Easter Seals Team Alex in memory of Wilma Powers.
Wilma was born on July 16, 1920 in Bluffs, Ill., the daughter of Arch and Opal McCannon Hale. She married John Paul Powers on Aug. 28, 1940 in Wapella, Ill.. He passed away on June 15, 1977.
Survivors include her children, Linda Powers of Normal, Ill., James F. (Karen) Powers of Wapella, Ill., Paul “Edd” Powers of Clinton, Ill.; brother, Ben (Mary) Hale of Clinton, Ill. and sister, Darlene Griffith of Normal, Ill.; six grandchildren, Shelby Svendsen, Paul “Andy” (Cyndi) Powers, Kristi (Justin) Goble, Kelli (Jeff) Powers, Lucas (Kara) Powers and Alex Powers; six great-grandchildren, Sean Svendsen, Chloe Goble, Cooper Goble, Piper Goble, Presley Goble and Charlie Powers. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Rosemary Girard of Clinton, IL, brother-in-law, Francis Riddle of Pensacola, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and one grandson.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wapella, Ill. She grew up and was reared on a farm.
Wilma had worked at the Dixie Truck Stop in McLean, Ill. She loved to travel and most importantly, she loved her family.
