WAPELLA — A trustee serving on the Wapella Village Board could be in violation of the residency requirement. The board is looking into the possibility that Sharon Riddle has been serving on the board while living outside the village limits.
“There have been a number of questions raised by residents of the village …as to the status of Sharon Riddle as a trustee,” mayor Mark Miller said at the recent village board meeting. “The law is clear that once an elected official moves outside the jurisdiction to which they were elected to serve, they are no longer eligible, and they need to resign.”
