CLINTON — In spite of opposition that split the county board into nearly even sides, two items included in the proposed 2013 budget remained in the budget when members approved it on Thursday.
Finance chairman Ed Young said $800,000 was included in the budget to finance the ambulance service until the levy was in full effect to fund the service.
“You can probably get by for $600,000 to $650,000 because what we budgeted for was ambulance service for two years,” Young said. “You will have tax money coming in, let’s say August, to you would be four to five months short of a two-year span.”
Young said, since funding the ambulance service was “new territory” for the county, it should budget initially for more than was required. He felt if the board did not do that, “it puts the new board in a position that, if there were some things they felt needed to be done …they would not have the room to do that.”For the complete article see the 11-30-2012 issue.
