CLINTON — Terry K. Hoffman, 55, of Maroa, has been charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery involving an alleged altercation with DeWitt County Emergency Management Agency director Teresa Barnett.
DeWitt County deputies arrested Hoffman at the sheriff’s office at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Hoffman is a newly elected member of the DeWitt County Board.
Circuit Chief Judge Dan Flannel reviewed affidavits on Thursday submitted to the court and ruled that probable cause existed for Hoffman’s arrest. Bond for Hoffman was set at $10,000. He posted the required 10 percent and was released from corrections.
Hoffman is active in opposing the proposed expansion permit for the chemical waste unit of Clinton Landfill. He is one of seven new members of the county board.
