Rockets handle Maroons in Clinton 58-28

Posted: Wednesday, Dec 19th, 2012

CLINTON — Clinton Head Coach Josh Gibson and his Maroons knew what to expect heading into Tuesday’s non-conference tilt with the Ridgeview Rockets — a tall, aggressive team that has found a formula for success.  The Maroons, meanwhile, are still developing a new identity as a basketball program under Gibson.

With that type of matchup, the Rockets walked away with a 58-28 victory.

Clinton got down early to the visiting Rockets, missing on key offensive opportunities.

“I thought we did well early on handling their defensive pressure because we knew it was coming,” Gibson said.  ”I knew how we wanted to attack it, but we missed a lot of easy shots.  We really put ourselves in a hole.”

In the days leading up to the game, the Maroons had worked on their zone offense, but Gibson said practice and game situations were worlds apart for his squad.
