MONTICELLO, Ill. — Ardith V. Davis, 82, of Monticello, passed away suddenly in the early afternoon of December 29, 2012 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
A visitation was held on January 3 at Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo, Ill. Graveside services were held on January 3 at Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo, Brother Jim Giffen, of the First Church of God officiating.
Ardith was born on November 19, 1930 at home in rural Mount Township, Effingham County, Ill., a second child to the family of John and Bertha Tish-Blurton. She graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1949. She attended Illinois State Teacher College, Normal, Ill. and began teaching at age 19. She taught school in Loudon Township, Fayette County and also in Ramsey, Ill., teaching all eight elementary grades.
She married Clifford Eugene Davis, the love of her life, on February 28, 1955 at the First Church of God, St. Elmo, by preacher Ward. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are two sons Bradley Lenn Davis, St. Elmo, and Randy Allen (Jill) Davis, and grandsons Max Davis and Seth Davis, Normal, Ill.; one brother Lloyd Blurton, Liberty, Mo.; two sisters Joyce Martin, Effingham, Ill., and Mila (Robert) Leach, St. Charles, Mo.; three sisters-in-law Mrs. Tom or Mary Ruth Yockey, Decatur, Ill.; Mrs. Charles or Gertrude Irene Garrison, Nevada, Mo., and Edna Francis and her husband Oliver Wright, St. Elmo, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents John Riley Blurton and Bertha Jane Tish-Blurton, son David Eugene Davis, in infancy, grandson Robert Clifford Davis, in infancy, brother Allen Melvin Blurton, and sister-in-law Rebecca Olive and her husband Dean Painter preceded her in death.
