CLINTON — Charles H. “Freck” Cooper, 77, of Clinton, passed away at 3:13 p.m. on January 31, 2013 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Ill.
There will not be a visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, assisted the family with cremation rites. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 8, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, J. Kent Hickerson officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Charles was born on January 2, 1936 in Clinton, son of Howard Cooper and Jennie Liming. He married Linda Diane Dubson on August 23, 1974, in Clinton. She survives.
Survivors also include a son Brian H. (Trisia) Cooper, Clinton; three grandchildren Mallory, Tess and Eli Cooper, all of Clinton, and three brothers Richard (Jessie) Cooper, Sarasota, Fla.; William (Marily) Cooper, Clinton, and Larry (Marge) Cooper, Clinton.
Charles was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955-1957. He was retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after 30 years of service as a switchman. He enjoyed his grandchildren and doing fishing.
