CLINTON — The Clinton Lady Maroons and the Central A&M Lady Raiders each had Okaw Conference records of 10-0 going into Thursday night’s game at Clinton High School. Two heavyweights were playing for the conference title.
Central A&M punched first, leading 17-6 after one quarter, getting up as much as 28-13 and leading 30-16 at the half. The Lady Maroons staggered from the blow but refused to go down.
The Maroons stormed out of the locker room after halftime on a 17-2 run taking the lead 33-32 at the end of the 3rd quarter and landed a solid shot of their own. Central A&M answered with a 7-0 run to start the 4th quarter, grabbed a 40-34 lead and dodged a late Maroon flurry by knocking down 16 free throws in the last frame, including 7-8 by Sophomore Taylor Jordan and 6-8 from Allie Heaton. Central A&M went on to win 56-49 and claimed the 2012-13 Okaw Valley Conference title.
