CLINTON — The Clinton Junior High dance team qualified for state competition at Villa Grove in January. The team qualified in jazz, pom dance and lyrical and received the “Team Spirit” award. The award is presented to the team displaying the most spirit during the entire competition for not only their team but other teams as well.
The dance team also competed in Charleston, Tuscola and Clinton, finishing its regional season winning eight 1st place awards, four 2nd place awards and one 3rd place. Clinton also received four “Rising Star” awards. The award is presented to individual girls who stands out in the group dancing. The four awards went to Savannah Lapitan, Callie Champley, Riley Pruser and Kayeden Fryman. Team captain is Karma Rusher. Karma has been on the dance team for three years.
The team attended the state competition in Riverton on March 9 and placed second in jazz, third in pom dance and fourth in lyrical. The dances performed at the state level were choreographed by Coach Kelsey Duncan-Savage, Clinton M-Squad members, Assistant Coach Zoe’ Duncan-Savage, Assistance Coach Scout Duncan-Savage, Zoe Duncan-Savage and Scout Duncan-Savage.
