CLINTON — Thomas F. Cooper, 84, of Clinton, Ill., passed away at 4:24 p.m. on March 19, 2013 at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the First Christian Church, Clinton, J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wapella, Ill.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flower to First Christian Church.
Thomas was born on May 11, 1928 in Decatur, Ill., son of Roy Cooper and Margaret (Johnson) Cooper. He married Della M. Bray on February 19, 1950 in Wapella. She survives.
Also surviving are children Debra (Randy) Waks, Deane E. Cooper, Donna L. (Rich) Parker, Tom D. (Connie) Cooper, and John A. (Marcia) Cooper, all of Clinton; nine grandchildren Ryan Holt, Drew Duggins, Nick Massey, Ashton Duggins, Tyler Baker, Cassie Baker, Colton Cooper, Wyatt Cooper and Conor Cooper; half- sisters Sandy Priola, Naple, Fla., and Joanne (Grant) DeYoung, Sunset Beach, N.C., and half- brother Leroy (Joyce) Reif, Ocala, Fla.
His parents, one granddaughter Crystal Massey and one great- granddaughter Sydney Holt preceded him in death.
Thomas was a member of the First Christian Church. He farmed for all of his life. He was director and later an associate director of the DeWitt County Soil and Water Conservation District and DeWitt County Farm Bureau. His family and farming was his life, and he will be missed greatly.
