CLINTON — The Clintonia Township clerk will receive paid health insurance benefits from the township following a unanimous decision made by the trustees at their March 19 meeting.
Current clerk Della Cooper did not run for re-election. Ingrid Forsberg is running unopposed.
Last November, the township reduced the clerk’s salary to $7,500 per year. At the February meeting, a discussion ensued about whether the position should qualify for health benefits based on the number of hours worked.
“Any elected official is on call 24 hours,” said Cooper. “So a clerk and a supervisor would be on 24/7, right?” added township legal counsel Phil Lamkin. “I would think that would mean they’re full-time.”For the complete article see the 03-22-2013 issue.
