CLINTON — The Clinton City Council gave the okay Monday to The Farnsworth Group to proceed with the Kleemann Road improvement project. Work would likely begin on the road no earlier than late July.
Phil Matone, with Farnsworth, gave council members an overview of the project, including its history.
Originally planned as a three-lane improvement from the Rt. 51 bypass west, the plan was developed with the possibility the new grade school would be located on the road. Since the school is being built on another site, modifications to the Kleemann Road plan would save money, Matone said.
Matone said that, without the school, the traffic load probably would not warrant three lanes for the length of the improvements. He did say three lanes would likely be necessary for about 1,000 feet of the road from Rt. 51.
The city still hopes to encourage development in the area, and the length of Kleemann Road that did have three lanes would be attractive to developers, Matone said. For the complete article see the 04-16-2013 issue.
