HEYWORTH — Marjorie Esther Wilson, 95, of Heyworth, Ill., passed away at 11:25 p.m. on April 23, 2013 at Manor Court, Clinton.
A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:40 p.m. on Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Private graveside services will be held following the visitation, Kurt Flora officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Weldon Springs Foundation.
Marjorie was born on May 31, 1917 in Atlanta, Ill., daughter of John W. Wilson and Charlotte (Vail) Wilson.
Survivors include one brother Hilton A. Wilson, Heyworth; two nephews Jefferey (Leisa) Wilson, Heyworth, and Jack H. (Brenda) Wilson, McLean, Ill.; two nieces Jennifer (Gary) Sing, Pine Hurst, Ohio and Jane (Keith) Greene, Kellogg, Ohio.
Her parents and fiancé Robert E. Downing preceded her in death.
Marjorie was a member of the United Church of Heyworth. She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1935 and received her degree in elementary education from Illinois State University. From 1937-1944 she taught in Logan County and at the Heyworth Grade School. Following teaching from 1944-1956 she was the secretary to the farm advisor at Logan County Farm Bureau. From 1956-1980 she was the secretary to the plant manager at Revere Copper & Brass, Inc., Clinton, Ill. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Medical Center auxiliary, volunteering for over 20 years. She was also a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau, Weldon Spring Foundation and the American Association of Retired Persons.
