Clinton Fire Department donates waterball proceeds in memory of fallen firefighter

CLINTON — The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau’s 2013 MayDays Waterball Competition took place Saturday, May18.  Proceeds from registration were donated in memory of fallen firefighter Chris Brown from Hudson to the Max and Mason Brown Education Scholarship Fund at CEFCU in Bloomington.  

Seven teams competed for the coveted traveling trophy, representing fire departments from across Central Illinois, including Cerro Gordo, Waynesville, Kenney, Hudson, Farmer City, Clinton and Hammond.  

The first place team was Farmer City & Clinton Fire, represented by Ken DeMarse, Patrick Ballenger and Tom Harweger.  Second place went to Cerro Gordo Fire Department, represented by Terry Marvin, Delbert Powell and Michael Powell.  Third place went to Waynesville Fire Department, represented by Chris Furman, Tim Furman and Jason Danner.  

MayDays Waterball registration fees and donations raised $310 from members of Clinton Fire Department.  The City of Clinton voted to match funds raised by the event at their May 20 council meeting.
