CHAMPAIGN — The statewide average precipitation for June 2013 in Illinois was 5.2 inches, which is nearly 1 inch above the 1981–2010 average. It was more than double the June 2012 total of 1.8 inches, according to Illinois State Climatologist Jim Angel, at the Illinois State Water Survey, Prairie Research Institute, University of Illinois.
The two wettest areas in Illinois were in northern Illinois and an area just south of Interstate 70. The highest monthly total in the state was Flora with 12.63 inches.For the complete article see the 07-09-2013 issue.
