WARRENSBURG, Ill. — Michael Thorne Pope, 45, of Warrensburg, Ill., passed away at 2:35 p.m. on July 9, 2013 at Hickory Point Christian Village.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Decatur, Ill. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at First Church of the Nazarene, Decatur, Pastors Tim Lourash and Brian Powell officiating. The family has entrusted arrangements to Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Interment will be at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the education fund for Michael’s children.
Michael was born on March 5, 1968 in Decatur, Ill., son of Forest “Butch” Pope and Erma (Cowgill) Pope. He married Paula S. Hoffman on June 8, 1999 in Decatur. She survives.
Also surviving are three children Kyle Pope, Maroa, Ill.; Kylie Pope, Warrensburg, Ill., and Coby Pope, Warrensburg; one grandson Rhyder; aunts Sandy (Bob) Caplinger, Oreana, Ill., and Sandra (Gareth) Cowgill, Oceanside, Calif.
His parents and one brother Bill Pope preceded him in death.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Decatur. Michael was a 1986 graduate of Maroa-Forsyth High School. He worked for ADM Trucking for 17 years.
He enjoyed farming, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife and children. The family extends a special thanks to Hickory Point Christian Village staff and nurses and to Drs. Muhammad Khan and Perry Guaglianone.
