Bill related to new animal shelter stirs county board debate

CLINTON A $2,000 bill for engineering services related to the new DeWitt County animal shelter was passed over for payment Thursday after county board members debated how the bill was submitted and how the work was authorized.

Earlier this summer, dispute among board members over site work for the shelter authorized by member Pete Daugherty sparked more of the ongoing debate about local government transparency, a concept that now resurfaces at nearly every board meeting.
