County board pays engineering bill; some still question method

CLINTON Following some of the most contentious debate since members took office in December, the DeWitt County Board voted on Thursday to pay a $2,000 bill from Prairie Engineers. But some board members repeated concerns about how the work was authorized.

During the September 5 county board meeting, some board members balked at paying the bill generated by preliminary site work of the planned new animal shelter. Board member Dan Ballenger accused vice chairman Pete Daugherty of authorizing the work independently of full board approval.
