FARMER CITY — Richard “ Dick “ Zeigler, 75, of Farmer City, Ill., passed away at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Ill., with Pastor Dave Ashby officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
Dick was born April 24, 1938 at Maroa, Ill., a son of Bill and Hazel Galloway Ziegler. He married Rachel Burton on March 20, 1970 at the Church of the Nazarene, Farmer City, Ill.
He is survived by his wife Rachel Zeigler, of Farmer City, Ill.; five sons, Craig (Melinda) Zeigler, of Farmer City, Ill.; Erik(Mendy Wheeler) Zeigler, Clinton, Ill.; James Ratcliffe, of Mahomet, Ill.; Jeff (Cindy) Ratcliffe, of Mentor, Ohio; Bob (Kim) Ratcliffe, of Mentor, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Blayne Zeigler; Kaitlyn Zeigler; Bonnie Stewart; Kyle Zeigler; Josh Ratcliffe; Heather Medrano; Kim ( Mickey) Ellis; Krystal (Joe) Caja; Travis Ratcliffe; 12 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie Ziegler, of Wapella, Ill.; Dave (Melody) Ziegler, of Ariz.; two sisters, Joyce Todd, of Clinton, Ill.; Vickey Ziegler, of Farmer City, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Rick Zeigler.
Dick graduated from Clinton High School in 1956. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic. He was discharged in 1960. Dick has been in the area most of his life and owned and operated Zeigler Enterprises for 43 years. He was a hard worker and helped many people around the area. He loved watching racing and his grandchildren play sports. Dick was a great man who was liked by many people and especially loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all.
