Robert Shaw, Carol Thompson work on newly released book about Lincoln in Gettysburg

Posted: Friday, Nov 8th, 2013

Renowned Lincoln and Civil War historian Michael

Burlingame and accomplished landscape photographer Robert Shaw are releasing their new book titled A Day Long To Be Remembered — Lincoln in Gettysburg.

The book is a collection of images and scholarly writing that takes readers on a visual journey that is unique among books about Lincoln and Gettysburg.

Burlingame’s writing, along with Shaw’s images, are woven together with Lincoln’s own words to create a dramatic exploration of Lincoln and the Gettysburg story.  This is Burlingame and Shaw’s second collaboration.  They teamed up to develop the book Abraham Lincoln Traveled This Way — The America Lincoln Knew, published in 2011.  Carol McFeeters Thompson, of Clinton, was the main editor of both books.  She worked as a layout and writing consultant on both projects also.
