CLINTON — Superintendent of schools Dr. Jeff Holmes said the district is “gearing up” to educate the community on proposed 1 percent countywide sales tax for school facilities that voters will be asked to approve at the polls on March 18. The revenue from the tax for Clinton schools is estimated to be between $650,000 and 750,000 annually.
Items that cannot be taxed include vehicles, mobile homes, unprepared food, drugs, medical supplies and agricultural sales. General merchandise and convenience food would be taxable. For the complete article see the 01-24-2014 issue.
