The late Virgil W. Gibson has been inducted onto the Clinton High School Wall of Honor. Gibson is best known locally as the founder of Gibson Ace Hardware. Gibson, class of 1938, played football for Clinton in 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937. Gibson was a veteran of WWII and was involved in a lifetime of local civic work, including serving as one of three original members of hte planning committee for the DeWitt County Museum, a founding member of the Apple & Pork Festival, chairman of the Wapella Centennial Celebration, Chairman of Clinton United Way and a long list of other volunteer activities. Accepting the honor on behalf of her husband was Annita Gibson, seated. Also present was Gibson's family.
